Who we are

The Blue Hill Harbor School is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) high school serving grades 9 through 12. Enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is 30 students from nine surrounding communities.

The school was founded in 2007 with a handful of students. The initial curriculum was based on the “EdVisions” model, an early advocate of project-based learning focused on relationships, student engagement with their own interests, and rigor. These principles remain active at BHHS today.  The original school was located on Mill Street in downtown Blue Hill, and after several years, moved to its current campus on South Street.

Our open-campus model encourages students to take advantage of a public library, fitness center and gymnasium, trail systems, and local amenities, all within walking distance during the school day.

As a Maine state approved private school, students who live in communities with school choice for high school can attend BHHS tuition-free. The school also accepts applications from tuition-paying applicants.  To find out more please go to Admissions.
