Visual & Performing Arts

At the Blue Hill Harbor School we foster a vibrant, inclusive and varied Visual and Performing Arts program guided by staff with professional experience in their respective disciplines. We offer opportunities for creation, performance, and expression in the form of music, theater, and visual arts. Many aspiring performing arts students seek private music lessons, dance classes, perform with local bands, all-state orchestra, local theater productions, etc.

In the Visual Arts Department, recent classes have included drawing,  watercolor painting, block printing,  bookmaking, found object sculpture, animation, history of art making, mural creation photography, mask making, basket weaving, and fiber arts.  In addition, students are offered the opportunity to create independently driven projects. Our students are supported in developing relationships with the larger art community including Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, local artists, galleries and museums across the state. Students seeking higher education in the arts are instructed in portfolio creation and mentored through the college application process.
